April 16

Another late update for you! Loknut is still alive! We have taken time to write new material and search for a new Loknut bassist. The bass duty is open and we are strongly searching for the right fit. If you are interested in trying out contact us!

Loknut is currently booking studio time for the recording of 11 new Loknut tunes.
For the time Sean and Carl will take over bass on the recording until the right person steps up,
then they are out of there!

This group of new Loknut tunes showcases the bands strength and power,
and refusal to conform to yesterdays.

More to come....

November 4

Once again, sorry for the lack of updates! We have all been busy. We are working on fresh tunes, as well as booking some studio time! Shows are in the works, and will be posted soon. We want to thank Voodoo for all his support and respect. Also, will Carl be in Guitar World? Say tuned!

August 28

Thanks to everyone who came out to Ye Old Towne Inn and made it a kick ass show. We really appreciate the support of Genus, Tripwire, and of course Skank. Check the pics section for some pics of the show. (thanks to Mary Ann)

"Hahnz", made his Loknut debut, new tunes were played and well received. We thank you all! A big thanks to "G" of Heavycore for his services. Also, thanks to Ang for the support and the set list! We will see you all soon-

August 7

Two new show added!. New tunes will be played and as always we are ready to go,
hope to see new and old friends! Check the shows page!

August 1

Well here we are with a great update! Loknut has signed on a new bass player! After Erik "Tater" Armstrong's sudden departure early in the year, Loknut was faced with a task to find a bass player that can provide dedication as well as technical ability. That task has been accomplished! With Andy "Hanz" Wera! We welcome him into the Loknut family.
(pics to be added soon)

Shows will be added shortly, we are very excited for what will unfold soon,
we will see you very soon!

July 19

We hope everyone is ready to roll here shortly! We are primed and ready to go!
New tunes are in order and can't wait to debut this new stuff on you all!

Sit tight, the news and details will unfold on you soon!
It is all, and was all, worth the wait!

June 23

Hello everyone, a little update for ya'all. We are currently close to returning to the studio
to record some new tunes, and we are totally diggin' these fresh ones.

Check out Carl's bio on the Washburn site, once again a big thanks to
everyone at US Music Corp. Also check out the Mutha Fucker disc in full
on MySpace at MySpace.com/Loknut. See you shortly!

May 23

The Mutha Fucker CD is done & ready for any one that wants one.
Contact the band for your copy today.

The CD starts off with the highly controversial "Crush The Will", a song
based on the events that went down at Abu Gharib prison, and on the topic
of torture. "The truth will set you free". This song musically, will
satisfy true Pantera/Black Label Society fans.

The second song on the disk, "Down Hard", is a socially conscious, thought
provoking song about poverty. A lot of us can relate to this, because it's a
song about being broke, going broke, and struggling to survive. This song
musically, is the best song on the disk, showing Loknut's strong writing
ability. It's filled with hooks, that's sure to gain lots of airplay on
hardrock/metal radio across America & the World.

The final song, "Mutha Fucker", is a Classic Neanderthal HardCore Metal sing
along song. It turns the tables, and bashes the "reviewers" & "critics" of
metal music for a change. It's a favorite at every show, and musically,
it's blunt Cross Over. Oh Joy!

We're currently completing the 3 new songs for the next CD. "Weak Man",
Loved & Lost", & "Hook". We're pushing the envelope with this new material.
Going where we haven't really gone with our previous efforts, but, fear not!
If you like what we've been doing, you'll love this new stuff. We deliver
the goods, and it's about to get even better.

Check back from time to time. We always have surprises for Loknut fans.
Spread the word... LOK into NUT mode!

See you all very soon!

May 19
Hey everybody we are one step closer to finishing up some major new tunes! We are busting ass to debut this new material and can't wait to hit the stage. Artwork and tunes for the "Mutha Fucka" disc will be up shortly. Carl has revamped his three minute solo, with a serious upgrade. Time is near, see you soon-

April  21
It's been a long time with the updates again but here we are!

We have been busy busting out new tunes and getting ready to drop them on you. Hell yeah to our brothas' 18 Speed Tranny for their awesome journey through the Bandamonium! They put on one hell of a show, and it was good to see you guys tear it up on that sweet stage!

We are hard at work re-vamping our current set  and adding/deleting songs -- and also deciding which three songs are going to be put on the next disc. We will see you shortly!

Also, April 11 marked the two year mark of my brotha' Kevin Dunn's unexpected and sudden death. Those two years went by so fast man. I will never forget being woken up early Saturday morning two years ago and being told of the unbelievable news. To this day,
I just can not accept the fact. Going back to Pittsburgh is just not
the same.

You are not forgotten my friend-

"Forever only last a little while."

March 21

January 20

It's been a while with the updates! We apologize. Also, the Emergenza show

The third Loknut disc titled, "Mutha Fucka", will be available shortly.
However, we will see you soon.

December 12

What a bad feeling I have about losing Dimebag- It is unreal, I can not get over that this has happened! That afternoon, before the tragic event, I (Carl) was in the lobby of Washburn Guitars Headquarters waiting for a guitar.  While I waited, I stared at the 3-4 signed Dimebag Guitars, and mini Dimebag shrine they had on display.

Though, I do feel lucky that I had the opportunity to see Dimebag seven times. And I actually talked to him on the phone about five months ago, he was on Mancow and I was able to ask him questions- very cool. Sorry to vent to you all, but hey we all do it anyway- On to other news....

Our last show of 2004 will be at Penny Road Pub, Friday Dec 17, come on out before the holiday kicks you.  Also, check out a few pics of me and my new Washburn.
(click on an image to see it bigger)

We finished up in the studio this past weekend, sounds great. Thanks to John at Phantom Reign Studios! See you at PRB!

December 1

A long awaited update as usual but it gets done. Thanks to all for your support at Lenny the Legends on Saturday. And also to all of your for your kind donations for Kade-Aid. We all thank you. We are playing our last show of 2004 at Penny Road Pub on Dec 17. We will be back in the studio at the beginning of December laying down fresh material- never stale.

Also, Loknut guitarist, Carl Weiss is now proudly endorsed by Washburn Guitars! Check back soon for looks at Carl's new rig and Washburn Guitar. Loknut thanks everyone at Washburn for their interest and support! Their is more in sight for Loknut, check back soon! See you at Penny Road Pub!

November 9
Ok, yet another late show update/review from Dave:

Poser Roast 9 come and gone. A Helloween bash with a bunch of bands that is not apart of the "sticker trend wannabecore" movement. All the bands had something that set each of them apart from one another, yet, "the normal Joe metal head" would have probably labeled us all as "noise". Many "sub" genres of brutal underground metal bands played, and were enjoyed by the good size crowd. This show had a great turnout considering there really were no "radio friendly" bands performing like at so many "other clubs" that night. Seemed like everyone was into the "Holiday festivities", there was even a "slamming Granny" running amok. And also to my surprise, some really hot gals running about that night! Lil red riding hoods, Naughty nurses(Emma should have won the costume contest!), Sailor-etts, that Hillbilly gal with the short short skirt(damn that ass looked fine!), The St. Juggy(Opps, it's Paulie)Girl, and so many others, having lots of fun! It was a great party.

All the bands were very cool, Vesicant(faster! faster!), Slave driver(what, you look like that all the time!?!), Human Hate machine(buds, buds, buds, aint talking about beer!), LOW TWELVE(burn the place down guys!), Skank(kill them strays!), Doom Syndicate(death gore grind, wait... they got melody?!?), and Pist(what could you be mad about tonight?). All these bands played strong sets, and I hope we can hook up with some of them soon.

I would like to thank Rob from Pist for convincing me to sign up LOKNUT on Heavy Core, and letting us play this gig. Pete for accepting us into the Heavy Core family. Also, Rotting Corpse Records, and Dark Star Records, for supporting Poser Roast and LOKNUT. Kick ass! Freak from The Zone/Radio Anarchy for plugging the show ENDLESSLY on "mainstream radio"! And "G", the truest band supporter I've ever met! If this guy likes your band, get him to promo your stuff, he's a diehard! He a jack of all trades, if you want a One Man Gang Street Team, this guy is the man! " G " -- GREGG A. GOPON  1 2 0 6 RIVERWOOD DR.  ALGONQUIN, ILL. 60102-3815  (847) 706-1966 (V.M.-MIDWEST )( 312 ) 914-3713 (V.M./CELL 24/7/365)

What else... I don't know how many of yous got a chance to go up to Milwaukee to see SLAYER, but, I got the opportunity to see them because of Lisa. Thank You Lisa, it was a great show! So many classic SLAYER songs in 1 night, I cant remember the last time they were that good!

And last but not least, for anyone that might have went to Rock-N-Rack on the 6th of Nov. That show was "postponed" until further notice. Beyond our control. Hopefully, it'll be re-scheduled soon, we are looking forward to playing there.

Next gig Nov 27 with Skank, Pist, and Slave Driver at Lenny The Legends. If you need info for that gig, write us. Lenny's website will tell you about last September and October shows, what good does that do you now, hhhhmmmm?

Last minute update!!!, Special Pre-Christmas Bash! It'll be more fun than flogging Christ! LOKNUT will be at Penny Road Pub On Friday December 17 for a "RARE" show with RISING UP ANGRY(from Florida!) Former members of The Plague, Sindrome, and Roach from Lungbrush! Also, Fly, formerly of the Plague, new band, FLYBONE is scheduled to appear! Come on out and drink Red Bull & Vodka till ya puke and fall down, or vise versa.
Special Early 9pm show start!  Later

October 25
What's up everyone, here we are only a few days away from Poser Roast 9 in Burbank. We are ready to go, and also ready to fire off some new tunes from within the Loknut arsenal!
In other news:
Loknut is proud to be taking part in the Emergenza Music Festival, taking place in Chicago! The first round will be at The Note in Chicago. There are 7 other bands playing that night also, check out the shows page for details. Tickets? Why yes... We have em'! Tickets for the show are 15.00 at the show or you can get them from us for 10.00! E-mail any member of Loknut to order tickets! You'll be hearing a lot about this show so come on out and support some Chicago music!
More to come! See you on the 30th at Champs!

October 9
Dave says: Well, another "late" news update. LOKNUT would like to thank
everyone, YES, everyone that came out to Bar 312. Your support is greatly,
and I do mean GREATLY, appreciated. Next time, we'll make sure we have the
sound guys up to speed with what needs to be taken care of before we play. I
think the place deserves a second chance to let us do a gig where the PA
MIX is right. Hell, we'll bring our own sound guy and mic cables to ensure
that there will be no problems next time around. 18 Speed Tranny, we owe you
guys a few rounds, you were way cool in your actions. I'm still "stumped" by it.

Now, on to Oct 2 at Bam Bams. This show ended up being very good for us in
establishing an all ages "click" in the Antioch area. It seemed early on
that the show might end up sucking really bad. It looked like everyone left
after Deceived (a very good set I must add), but, just before we started, the
"loyal" Antioch metalheads showed up in force. It's not easy competing
against "Homecoming" or what ever the "school function" was that weekend.
But when we were finished, it was cool talking to everyone that "rushed us",
passing out stickers, giving away drum sticks, guitar picks, the only LOKNUT
shirt, which was a wild "free for all". We're hoping to get back there in
Dec for another killer gig for you. And we'll have more stuff for you all.
Soon as we know when, we'll get the word out, and please, keep "spreading"
the word about us. Next show, "Super Size" mosh pit! You had it going
really good last time, now, lets make it even bigger and stronger. Circle
mosh pits rule. Harm is not the intention! It's a show of Unity! Antioch
Metal Heads United! Thanks again for you support!
Our next all ages gig is on Nov 6th at Rock-N-Rack in Round Lake. So come on
out and see Calgary (Shadows Fall/Slayer like, you'll love em) from Chicago,
Stunt Double Jesus (Ex-Lungbrush/Gravel Bone/No One) from Chicago, and
LOKNUT ("LOK"-INTO-"NUT"-MODE) Crystal Lake. Are there any other bands on the
bill? Fuck I don't know. But if it's just us 3, it'll be totally worth you 5 bucks.

The next few weeks we're going to be finishing up a few more new songs.
These songs are total METAL FOR METALHEADS songs. Definitely going to be the
best material available yet.

Also keep an ear open for the "Poser Roast" radio ads on the 94.7 The Zone!
Oct 30 at Champs, on the SOUTH SIDE! Sorry, it's an over 21 gig!

And always...Remember! Support the Underground.

September 28
Well, we just want to thank everyone for coming out to Bar 312 last Friday night. Thanks to Nick Rinaldi from Brown Lounge Records for having us out. Also to 18 Speed Tranny for their un-explainable support. Your more than generous actions are appreciated and Tom your shirt is in the making! We look forward to more shows with our brothers in 18 Speed Tranny. Also, thanks to Skank for their support once again.
We will see you guys on October, 30 the heaviest Heavycore show to date!

Oh, yeah- come join LOKNUT, Desdinova, Chicken Lab, Deceived, and Pist at Bam Bams Pyramid of Sound in Antioch, on October 2. This is an ALL AGES SHOW. Starts at 5pm-

September 22

Says Dave:
Well, this is kinda late, but, gotta thank Time Bomb entertainment & Chainwax for the great times at Penny Road & Lenny the Legends over the past few weeks. Kriz (Chainwaxs singer), dude, it was way cool to let me try out/use your wireless mic at Penny Rd. I'm now saving my pennies to get one
of em for my SM58! Oh yeah, hanging on the roof was a "high" too, way "high", "cough-hack" damn dat shit is "sweet"! Hey man did ya know I'm deaf?:) It was also cool that Adam (from Soil) came out to show his support and jam a tune with you guys. The Lenny the Legends gig was cool too, you guys and Vagrancy have some crazy diehard fans. I dig that place I look forward to future shows there with you guys, fuck, I would not mind playing anywhere with you guys. My Mom also thought you were great Kriz. Moma's stamp of approval is a very good thing. Also, the act of generosity from you guys is beyond anything I can write. Thank you again.

Now on to the Nite Cap gig. Gotta thank SKANK, for the opportunity to do a show with em. Skunk, Kyle, G, Nuzzo, you guys have been to more Loknut shows then anyone else. Your support is greatly appreciated, even though Tater fucked up, we still came to do what we do. And you guys were there to the very end, even to see me fall thru that fucking hole in the stage, again. I can't wait til Oct 30th Heavy Core Fest, and the Nov 27th gig at Lennys with you guys and Pist. They're gonna be a killer gigs. I also want to thank the guys in Pist for sticking around soo late. I know, It's a long haul (I got home at 5am!). Also gotta thank these people, Roach & his wife (came from their Stunt Double Jesus gig on the South Side!), Marcella and Othersense (did you guys get to your gig ontime at Penny Road?) SPP (YOUR ALL FUCKING CRAZY, BEAT MY ASS AGAIN PLEASE), S810 (Mr. Metal Encyclopedia!), Julie (sorry I did not get a chance to talk to you more), Rotting Corpse Records (the shirt fits great!), Heavy Core Rep (dude, I never got your name), Metal Mark, Scotty "D" ("baking late in da streets") and anyone/everyone I forgot to mention, especially those that came to my aid after the "fall", anyone video tape that shit?, I'll cut you in on the lawsuit money I win (I aint gonna sue that place, they can't even buy toilet paper for the ladies room!) Send me an e-mail, I'll add you to this list if you're upset. Next show, BAR 312 with 18 Speed Tranny Friday Sept 24th! Finally!, back in a real "club".
Hey! Did ya know that I'm deaf!?!?

Says Carl:
We are rested and ready for Bar 312 in Buffalo Grove on Friday the 24th. Bar 312 (formerly Bumpers) on Rt.83 which is also McHenry Rd. It is in the same shopping center as Grill Works. 18 SpeedTranny will be there as well tearing the place up. So come on out to Bar 312 and enjoy!

Also, thanks to SKANK for having us on the bill at NiteCap on Sat. Kick ass show with The Rosedales and PIST. We went on about 1:30. Thanks to the people who stuck around!
As well as Rotting Corpse Records for showing once again, there support. Thanks for the shirts Ron! Dave wore it well- he also fell (again) through the stage during Mutha Fucka, man that was some funny shit! Right song and everything!
Come on out to Bar 312 and have a Mutha Fucka good time!

Loknut congratulates Carmen and Dave on their engagement!

September 15
Here we are with a busy few weeks ahead of us. Friday the 17th we will be in Mchenry at Lenny the Legends. Then on Sat the 18th we are back at NiteCap in Chicago with SKANK, The Rosedales and PIST! Don't miss this bad ass show, with our fellow HeavyCore brothers. Thanks to 18SpeedTranny for coming out and showing there support at Penny Road. Thanks to Dave, Debbie, Mandy, Eric, John the sound dude,  and the entire staff at Empire Entertainment!
See you in Mchenry.

September 9
It's almost time, back at the Loknut home base...Penny Road Pub! We are ready to roll, so come on out and support your scene. We got some kick ass shows in the forcast and it's gonna be brutal, so put on your shit kickin' boots and get ready.

There is also some great news about Loknut that will be coming your way as soon as it gets confirmed! Check out all the great Loknut gear! We will see you there-

September 1
NiteCap review, well..., it was fun, except falling thru the stage part. It's too complicated to explain, but lets just say I could have ended up a lot worse if not for my ninja like reflexes.

As for the show (the falling thing happened before we even started), Eighty Sick backed out and were replaced by Withering Souls. I never even heard of em. Reason why? They're Black/Doom metal. I don't follow any of the current bands in that genre. But, I did watch em perform 3 or 4 songs. A six member band crammed on the stage in NiteCap is a sight to behold. They brought some of their own lights to add to the ambiance of their music. To my surprise, they were really good. Twin guitar attack, thundering drums, pounding bass and Ines on her massive keyboard setup providing Mykil (the vocalist) with doom, horror, & terror soundscapes to apply his lyrical madness. I'd go see em again, they're a good band.

Next up, us (LOKNUT), we do our thing. People enjoyed it, I think we gained at least 3 or 4 dozen new fans. It's all worth it, no effort no gain.

Then came Smoke, Scott D's band. This guy is hardcore devoted to helping the Chicago scene in any way he can. He's been doing it for a long time. Smoke has a lot of cool stuff going on. The music is good, the vocals are cool and catchy, and they break into these heavy as hell parts from time to time. And Scott, did all this with a broken hand. Dedicated, what more can be said.

Then came Joey Belladonna. This is not the same band I had seen at the Thirsty Whale shortly after his departure from Anthrax. This Belladonna band was a 3 piece, and Joey was singing and playing drums! YES, YOUR READING THIS RIGHT, JOEY WAS SINGING AND PLAYING DRUMS! It's not what I was expecting, but for the most part, pretty good. He did a bunch of classic Anthrax tunes, a bunch of Belladonna stuff (very Belladonna era-Anthrax-ish) and a couple of Black Sabbath tunes. Everyone was having a really good time, but when it was time to close the Bar, nobody was ready to leave. Had to have a lil more, and it got fucking crazy for the last 2 songs, bodies flying, people moshing, heads banging with fist in the air. Great way to end the night and show Joey and his crew just how much we appreciated his contribution to Metal. Then the MASSIVE storms came, and it was a scary and slow drive all the way back out to "stick-n-stumps-ville" Crystal Lake. It ended up being a 24 hour straight day for me. I'm God damn happy we didn't have any other gigs set up that weekend, I needed my ugly sleep.

I'd like to thank Jeff (Lungbrush/Emetic), James Wolfman (InSpiteOfYou), Gary (Rival), Steve C for taking the pictures, Ron and Lori Dake of Rotting Corpse Records, Susie Rock, and everyone that were with all you people as well as all the regular "Smiler Coogan" crowd that was there, I really do miss that place. And an extra thanks to Skunk and Kyle for their effort to get there and see us (yeah, yeah, I know you were just doing "promo" for the gig on Sept 18TH), even though we had just finished when you got there. SKANK are "True-Pure-Heavycore!" To Ines, I don't think I ever got your girlfriends name correctly, you know, the tall one with the boots/long legs, I would have mentioned her by name, but, couldn't remember it, don't think I heard it right anyway. But, to the rest of yous, if I forgot to mention you, it's on purpose, MuthaFucka!
Just kidding, "I love you all"

Hope you can come out on Fri-Sept 10th to Penny Road (Eve Of Terror) in the Underground. We're hoping to play a few new songs that night. Til then, enjoy the holiday weekend and be safe.

August 29
After a killer show at NiteCap we are resting up and taking advantage of a weekend off.... Labor Day. Time to fire up the Barby and relax. What a night it was at NiteCap! The opening band was WitheringSoul. MYKIL and the rest of WitheringSoul was kick ass, awesome power and presence! Lets get that show lined up MYKIL! Scottie Davidson (SMOKE) was banging the shit out of those drums with a broken damn hand! Kick ass man. And Joey Belladonna, singing and drumming the rest of the night, what a great guy to see, and just all around a great guy!

We want to thank Ron and Lori Dake of Rotting Corpse Records, for your interest and support. And of course the disc and t-shirt! We look forward to working with you in the near future. And of course Steve C for taking the pictures the whole night for Loknut, thanks bro! Next show is at Penny Road Pub, Friday September 10th, we will see you there!

August 27
Alright everyone, are you ready for the show? We are ready to go now- Kick ass sound, great bands and of course Joey Belladonna! Come on down and have some drinks and enjoy the night, you don't want to go see Metallica and Alice in Chains (I mean Godsmack) anyway do ya?

Mutha Fucka, Mutha Mutha Fucka!

August 23
Says Dave: Yep, we did our first gig at the Rushmore Inn last Sat nite. It was pretty decent considering some of the terrible shows I've seen there & even worse stories I've heard about play'n there. Power was the problem early on for Vagrancy(first band on), kept popping them fuses in the lil old garage. Then when that got fixed, the bassist amp jack was the problem. Tater tried his best to assist, but that guy gotta get that amp fixed. It's too bad about all the problems they were having, but their fan base was die hard loyal, and still went off for them by the time they finally got it in gear. It'll be cool to see them with out the problems, they are really good guys. But because of the early on crap, it kinda fuck up the time slots for the rest of the bands. We got our stuff up and ready to go rather quickly, test guitar, OK, test bass, where's the bass line in box, got it?!? Got it? OK, test drums, OK, mic's all working? Yep. Bang! we do our thing, and the people slowly start coming out. It was a chilly night, guess a lot of em had to load up on the booze. Thanks to Kris (Chainwax) for starting a fire, but next time, find more stuff to burn! We had to cut a song from our set list along with Carl's guitar solo (the torment) to get the show somewhat back on track. No biggie. A lot of people came over to us as we were tearing down to give us comps on Metal as we play it. Lil by lil, they spread the word, that's how it works. But, then came Pist, death metal/hardcore boot stomping, skull crushing, no gimmicks, and no rock star attitudes. Just pure brutality. I like music like these guys play, music to kill people by! Rob and crew are great guys, and I totally respect them because of the way they are, no bullshit kinda guys. I look forward to future gigs with Pist. Then, came Chainwax. I've seen them once before, I like their style of Metal, kinda oldschool thrash/nu-school thrash. They are a very good band. Lots of cool stuff going on in their music. The singer Kris is great, considering the fact he's only been in the band for a short time. These guys seem like they been jamming for years. I understand why timebomb entertainment loves these guys. They're good. I'm really happy that Dave(get that eye fixed or buy a patch damn it!) Kerrie(your sis is a goddess, god bless Texas!), Bob(thanks for the great mix) and the rest of Timebomb entertainment(yep, even you too Chuck!) for putting on a great show and giving us the opportunity to jam with these bands. I hope you'll consider LOKNUT for future gigs. Next Fri in Chi-Town with Joey Belladonna, Smoke, and Eighty Sick at Chicago's Megadive...NiteCap!

Says (the less wordy) Carl: Well, here we are getting ready for Friday the 27th. With a kick ass line-up set. " EightySick", a bad ass band we played with back in Jan. " Smoke", Scottie Davidson's band from Rebel Radio, gonna' tear the shit up and of course, Joey fuckin' Belladonna! Throwin' down some old school Anthrax and his own shit as well. If you never been to NiteCap in Chicago before, well.... Get there early and take control of your spot, cause' the place fills up fast and thick! We go on second, after EightySick. And as far as the 27 minute show this past Saturday...
Come join us at NiteCap for a kick ass show!

August 17
Well, a lot of stuff going on this past weekend, Oz Fest, the Zone "Next Big Thing 3", Shadows Fall Metal Fest, and a few other event here and there, and perfect weather too. We did our first show at 602 North. It's, without a doubt, the best club in Chicago land, massive stage, killer P.A., awesome lights, parking for over 100 cars, cheap drink specials, great location, $5 cover to usually see 3 bands. The perfect venue except... people, not a whole lot of "regulars" at this place. Very weird. This place needs to evaluate a marketing strategy, or it's going to go under really fast. I can think of 6 things that would have that place packed on Fri-Sat Nights. But I'll save that info for Vicky if she wants to hear 'em.

As for the show...the band that we opened for, well... they don't belong in that club any night of the week, sorry, and the "third" band, they didn't even show or were never even booked. That's kinda fucked up.

But, I got to throw out a HUGE THANKS TO (I mean these people saved the night from being ultra sucky) SKANK! YES SKANK! Mr. & Mrs. Skunk, Nuzzo, "G", and Kyle. Without them there, well, it would have been a very long boring night. They had so much fun, at one point they were warned about they're over enthusiasm for the show. Yep, SKANK WAS STOMPING THE JOINT INTO THE GROUND! And because of their diehard support, we turned them onto, not only a killer guitar solo from Carl (it's called THE TORMENT), but a new new song... "Mutha Fucker". But don't worry, you'll all get to hear it soon enough, along with 2 more new songs, "CRUSH THE WILL " & "DOWNHARD".

So come out to one of the next LOKNUT gigs, mosh it up!

July 26

You can't please everyone. And the idea that we would cry and run away is fucking hilarious. It will never happen. We will continue to roll ahead, come and join us at 602! Also, pick up a fresh disc of Loknuts new CD, II at the show!

July 1
Well hello people, hope you are downloading and checking out the newly recorded tracks off II. We are currently wrapping up the following three. "Crush The Will" is mostly finished and should be ready to debut on August 14 at 602. "What I See" is coming along, and "Arena" is not far behind. You may have noticed we are not booked in the month of July, and it is for good reason. Kade has gone through his surgery with "Flying Colors" and is on his way to recovery. This is time well needed for the entire Schipper family, and we wish them all the best in this time. Everyone associated with Loknut, friends, families, and fans all wish the best to Kade and the Schippers'. Kade-Aid shows will continue, check the shows page for info. And once again, Thanks to all of you for showing your support and participating in the Kade-Aid raffles at previous shows, and also to the many retailers, newspapers, and bars for their support as well.

Also, a fan (BigBry77) e-mailed Carl about scales and what
his practicing routine involved... Carl's response:

Carl: Hey Bro- What I do to practice or to warm up is I usually roll through some pentatonic (5-note) and some Diatonic (7-note) scales. All over the neck. First picking each note slowly so I can hear it clearly, and then at a breakneck speed. Up and Down. Also I am a huge fan of "alternative picking" (up and down) but I also use "economy picking" (where the picking strokes are minimal) if it will benefit that particular piece of music.
Lastly, always practice at the least a half-hour a day..........

June 24

Our second EP "II" is now available for your listening pleasure.
A complete version of the first track (Driven by Conquest) is available for download,
and there are samples of the other two tracks.
Our second video, Driven, will be available in the next month or so.

February 12

LOKNUT would like to thank Bruce Corsone of Roaring Records for
giving us a chance to play the US BEER Co. on Feb 7.

Also, a big thanks goes out to 94.7 The Zone & Freak for their support. It was
great to have Freak come on out and party with the bands.
And Crazy Mary (I didn’t think she was real!) was there, and she was into all
the bands as well. But, isn’t she part of the Q101 MANCOW crowd? I don’t know
what’s going on there? It was nice meeting her.

Now, the biggest thanks goes out to the bands Kreplach & N.D.X.
Kreplach were brutal. They’re a band you should check out if you’re into
THRASH/SPEED METAL.  N.D.X was awesome! A great band live.
A band YOU MUST GO SEE. They have the potential to break out big time.

I wasn’t able to see Quick Change; I had to deal with the gear, but was told
that they were really good. Over all a very good night for METAL in CHI-CITY!

I got links added to my links section to these bands and some others if you’re
interested.

December 17

LOKNUT wants to thank everyone at Penny Road for having us out on Dec 5th. We
enjoyed play’n there and hope they’ll have us return soon.

I want to give a big SHOUT OUT to CALGARY; these guys are a band to watch out for. They are a really good band, if you’re into “THRASH METAL”! They work the stage very well and are not “TRENDY”, like so many of the bands out there. Influenced by many of the great THRASH GIANTS, as well as a lot of new THRASH METAL BANDS. Their music should appeal to a lot of SLAYER/SHADOWS FALL/THE CROWN/NAPALM DEATH fans. Double bass drums, grinding at points, shredding dual guitar leads, heavy as hell vocals. Check 'em out, they got a CD, and are working on a new one. Calgary-music.com

We also want to thank Stephen Pearcy, his Guitarist Erik, and Bassist Troy for letting us “hang” out after their set. Erik (guitarist) really tore up the “classic” RATT tunes. Stephen has a great band backing him up. It was a lot of fun hearing that stuff, as well as some of the “newer” material that was play’d.

We also want to thank ROACH & STUNT DOUBLE JESUS for giving us the opportunity to play with them and all the other bands at the BOTTOM LOUNGE on Sunday Dec. 14th.

The BOTTOM LOUNGE can become a great venue for shows once people learn more about the place and where it’s at. It’s the perfect room for shows; they have a killer P.A system, and an easy place to get to on public transportation. Just needs a little more time to develop a crowd. It’ll happen, just wait.

All the bands were great. The show started with Eighty Sick. I never heard them play before, but after seeing them, I’ll definitely go see them again. A very good heavy band. Then we play’d and people seemed to be into us. It was nice seeing some long time friends, and new friends supporting not only us, but also the whole show. I know we gained some new fans that night.

Then Domestic Godzilla tore up the stage, as usual. I LIKE THESE GUYS; they’re
so very cool, and a lot of fun to hang out with. After Domestic Godzilla came Emetic! Emetic is better every time I see them, they’re just one fucking awesome fucking band. The industry has gotta open their eyes to these guys. It’s only a matter of time. Then the moment of truth! Roach and Stunt Double Jesus came out. This band can NOT be ignored! Incredible, fucking incredible! A band has got to be at their best to follow up a powerful set from Emetic, and Stunt Double Jesus was. Roach has found himself in the mix of some great musicians once again. This band has
got to “make it”; they have all the right stuff. S.D.J is a “MUST SEE” band!

Then the “SURPRISE” of the night, SuperMercado! I didn’t expect them to wow me, but I’m glad I stay’d to see them. Damn! What another awesome band. They were the “different” band of the night. They had no trouble keeping it “HEAVY” like all the bands before them, but were able to do it their way. They add a lot of “groove & funk” in their music. Another band of great musicians, and the drummer is incredible! Gregg Potter is featured in this month's Modern Drummer. If you have never seen this man; you are missing something special. The guy is flashy and has feet like a machine. SuperMercado is another “must see” band! Check EM out at MattMercado.com

All in all, any of these bands can & will “STOMP” the crap outta you. Just a great bunch of bands I hope LOKNUT can do shows with in the future.

Please come back to our site on Dec 24th thru Jan 1st, all of our songs (complete versions) should be available for download in MP3 format, and check out the “new” video. It’s still "a work in progress" right now, but keep checking back as it develops. Send us e-mail if there’s something you think might make it better. Also the MP3’s are only going to be available from Dec 24 thru Jan 1st, then the site is gonna have some major changes made to it, all for the better, of course.

Well, I hope all ya have a Happy Holiday & SAFE NEW YEAR. See you all in 2004!

Dave

November 24

HEY EVERY ONE!

"DRIVEN BY CONQUEST" THIS TUNE IS DONE, & READY TO BURN ONTO PLASTIC! IT'S A GREAT EXAMPLE OF HOW A BAND CAN EVOLVE AFTER JAMMING TOGETHER FOR ONLY A YEAR.

"NOW", WE HAD BEEN FUCKING AROUND WITH THIS ONE FOR AWHILE, LOOKING FOR THE RIGHT "CLICK". IT'S BEEN FOUND. THIS SONG, WHILE MORE "MAINSTREAM FRIENDLY" THAN "D.B.C", HAS A TON OF "HOOK" TO IT.

THE "LAST MILE OF RAJA", A SONG THAT'LL REVOLUTIONIZE WHAT A "METAL MASTER PIECE" IS DEFINED AS. NO SHIT. THIS SONG, HAS SUCH A "MOOD" TOO IT, IT'S TOTALLY INTENSE. I HAVEN'T WORKED ON A SONG THIS GOOD, SINCE I WROTE "FIRST FALLEN", AN OLD "MORTAR" FAVORITE OF MINE.

AND IT SEEMS WERE ON A "ROLL" IN THE WRITING OF NEW MATERIAL.

"RULE OF THUMB" IS DEVELOPING INTO A TOTAL "THRASH METAL" ANTHEM!

"THE BETTER GOOD" & "EXTINCTION AGENDA", “THE BETTER GOOD” SEAN & I HAVE WORKED ON THIS ONE BEFORE CARL AND ERIK HOOKED UP WITH US. “EXTINCTION AGENDA” IS JUST ANOTHER “HEAVY AS FUCK!” THRASH TUNE IN DEVELOPMENT.

THE NEW STUFF WILL FEATURE, MORE SCREAMING, EXTREME HYPERBLASTING DRUMS, HEAVY ASS FUCK'N "BREAKDOWNS" AND EVEN "RADIO FREINDLY" STUFF, WELL NOT TOO FRIENDLY. GOTTA KEEP UP THAT "HATRED" OF ALL THAT IS "IN"!

WE’RE BOOKING SHOWS IN THE FAR NORTHERN & WERTERN SUBURBS. AND WILL BE OPENING FOR NATIONALS SOON ENOUGH. WHEN WILL WE HIT CHI-TOWN YOU ASK? SOON, VERY SOON. GOTTA RE-ESTABLISH SOME CONNECTIONS, ONCE THATS DONE, WERE GONNA BE DOING SOME COOL SHIT IN 2004.

AND A QUESTION TO ALL THE PEOPLE IN "CYBER SPACE"!  WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU THINK KILLED THE METAL SCENE IN CHICAGO & AMERICA, IF IT WAS EVER "DEAD".

SEND ME YOUR ANSWERS, CUZ I'M WRITING A PIECE FOR THE FUTURE "RAGE" COLUMN IN MY “LINKS” SECTION OF OUR WEBSITE. AND IF I USE EM, I'LL GIVE YA CREDIT FOR YOUR INPUT! IT DON'T MATTER HOW LONG OR SHORT AN ANSWER.

MY LAST GASP! IF YA CANT SEE ANTHRAX AT THE METRO ON FRI DEC 2ND, COME ON OUT TO PENNY ROAD PUB TO SEE US AT 11PM IN THE "PIT" (DOWNSTAIRS). AND IF YA GOT GIRLFRIENDS/WIVES THAT LIKE THAT 80'S METAL GLAM THANG, STEPHEN PEARCY OF RATT, YES! THAT SINGER FROM RATT! WILL BE "HEADLINING" THE MAIN FLOOR UPSTAIRS! THE UNDERGROUND VS. MAINSTEAM. IT'S STARTING TO FEEL LIKE THE "GOOD OL DAYS!"

KEEP VISITING FOR UPDATES!

Happy Turkey Day!
Dave

November 16

Hey, LOKNUT wants to say thanks to Sharky's Billiards in Round Lake, Penguins With
Shotguns, and fellow “NUTS” WingNut! You guys are so cool.
The bands were a great example of the different genres of music coming together
for the pure sake of performing & enjoying music! We had a lot of fun and
really hope to see everyone at our future shows! Lets get a room where there
are not any pool tables next time guys!

Again, LOKNUT thanks everyone for giving us an opportunity to do what we love
to do, and that's to give YOU people good ol' METAL MOSH'N MUSIC!
See you all soon!

OH YEAH, VOTE FOR US TO BE ON OZZFEST! IF WE WIN YOU COULD COME WITH US! CHECK
BACK FOR DETAILS! (DAVE'S GOTTA STEAL 'EM FIRST!)

and everyone involved in making the first ever Midwest Militia show a fucking
awesome success!  All the bands kicked some fucking major ass!  I'm sorry WingNut
got cut short on their set due to time.  We had a lot of fun and really hope to see everyone at our future shows!  We also gotta give a big shout out to AngryMan Productions (onemangang!) for doing a great job with the sound.  Your fucking killer!

Again, LOKNUT wants to say thanks to, Midwest Militia, Wingnut, Undisidid, Bi-Polar, and everyone involved... thanks everyone for giving us an opportunity to do what we love to do,
